Saline removal lifts pigment out of the skin using a salt-based solution, while laser breaks down pigment using light energy. Laser is usually better for darker, more saturated pigment, while saline is ideal for more targeted lightening or detail work.

Immediately after the procedure, the area may look red and sensitive. This usually calms down within 2–3 days, followed by light scabbing that naturally sheds over 10–12 days.
